We’ll measure the space, go through the layout, materials and finish, then give you a firm quote so you know what’s included.

Once you’re happy to go ahead, we arrange the materials and a fitting date. We’ll let you know how long the work should take and complete it with care.

Hawthorn Carpentry & Joinery is a family business started by my dad, Jeff Hawthorn, in 2000. When he retired in 2020, I took over and brought Jon on board.
Jon and I have worked together for around 15 years and carry out every project together. I’m a bench-trained joiner with over 20 years’ experience, and Jon specialises in staircases and interior second-fix joinery.
We take pride in our work. We’ll talk through what you have in mind, give you honest advice and take the time to get it right.

Can you give me an idea of price from photos?
Often, yes. Send photos of the space, any rough measurements and an example of the style you like. We can discuss a guide price, then measure up before confirming the final quote. If you’d prefer a visit first, just ask.
Do you supply and fit new staircases?
Yes, we supply and fit new staircases, as well as renovating existing ones. Send us some photos and an idea of what you’re looking for, and we can discuss the options before arranging a visit to measure up.
Can you renovate my existing staircase without replacing it?
Yes, if your existing staircase is structurally sound, we can often transform it without replacing the whole staircase. Options include new handrails, newel posts, glass panels or spindles, along with oak cladding for a more complete change.
Can you fit internal doors or a kitchen I’ve already bought?
Yes, we offer fitting for customer-supplied internal doors and kitchens. For doors, send us the details and sizes, along with your choice of handles. For kitchens, send over your supplier’s plans so we can put together a fitting quote.
Can you make fitted furniture for awkward spaces?
Yes, our bespoke fitted furniture is made to suit your home. Whether it’s an alcove, a sloping ceiling or an unused space under the stairs, we can discuss practical options for wardrobes, cupboards, shelving or other fitted storage.
